Old meets New

Are you the kind of nostalgic soul who looks back at the Underwood, Remington, and Smith-Corona typewriters of yesteryear and sigh plaintively? Yet are you simultaneously a modern tech nerd, who couldn’t go without the conveniences afforded by an iPad or iMac? Well, then, the Qwerkywriter — an 84-key keyboard that looks just like a vintage typewriter — might be just the thing for you.

Satechi Multi Remote

Apples Bluetooth keyboard is compact and pretty sweet and it works on just about anything. But their Bluetooth remote for their desktops as well as their Apple Tv has always been a little lacking. A company called Satechi plans to change that.

Its Bluetooth multimedia remote might not be as sleek as Apple's hardware, but it makes up for it with extra functionality including a dedicated mute button, a camera shutter release, and a duplicate home button so you can even activate Siri from afar. Furthermore, there's a sliding panel revealing a compact set of numeric buttons for selecting specific tracks or chapters, and on a single battery it will run for at least six months. Totally worth the $40 they're asking if it means you no longer have to reach an extra six inches to skip a track on your phone.

Deckster

not sure how many of you guys remember what a cassette player looks like, but for those that do, this iPod nano watch strap/case dubbed Deckster by N-Product might bring back some fond memories. On the basic level, the Deckster is your typical iPod nano watch strap design with its case made out of aircraft grade aluminum. What makes it particularly unique is that it comes with an eject function, allowing it to pop up like tape recorders back in the day (as pictured above), allowing users to remove the iPod nano with relative ease.
It will be available in either black or red and will feature leather bands. While it certainly looks good and with the eject function probably being the most appealing, it does not come cheap. Deckster will come with a price tag that ranges between $150 to $165, and for more information or to place your order, head on down toDeckster’s website for the details.

In its battle for market share in satellite television, Dish Network is jumping to cross the digital divide by bundling a new broadband satellite Internet service with speeds that are faster than most DSL land-line services. At the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on Monday, Dish CEO Joe Clayton announced a partnership with ViaSat that will allow the company to offer broadband service with download speeds as fast as 12Mbps and upload speeds of up to 3Mbps. Clayton said that the service would be available as part of Dish service bundles, starting at $79.98 a month.

Cobra Joyride

Nobody wants to spend extra time adjusting their phone before getting on the road. The Cobra JoyRide for Android smartphones is a car charger designed to intelligently customize the way the owner’s smartphone behaves when entering and exiting their vehicle by automatically reconfiguring the phone for in-car usage. This breakthrough advancement in automotive safety and convenience leverages the power of the new Android Open Accessory framework to trigger phone events and settings automatically by simply connecting the Android smartphone via micro-USB to the Cobra JoyRide charger.

The companion Android app communicates with the JoyRide Charger and opens up a whole new world of automotive convenience and personalization. Pushing a single button on the mobile app can initiate phone calls, launch voice commands, share information about road hazards and live police, pause and play music, and even launch GPS navigation apps or other favorite in-car applications.  The streamlined and intuitive interface also gives users control over power settings for Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth. The Cobra JoyRide application can also save the GPS position of the owner’s vehicle on the Android phone and help them navigate back to their parking spot.

The new Cobra JoyRide is expected to be available nationwide in Q2 with a MSRP of $39.95.

Logitech HD Procam

Logitech knows it would be letting us down if it didn’t have a new webcam for CES, and so there’s the HD Pro Webcam C920 with Full HD 1080p Skype support to reassure us. Offering 20-step autofocus and Carl Zeiss optics, the C920 also packs twin microphones for stereo audio recording with automatic noise reduction.
If you’re using Windows Live Messenger you only get 720p video support, though standalone 1080p video clips and interpolated 15-megapixel stills are possible. Logitech’s accompanying software suite supports H.264 video compression and one-click YouTube and Facebook upload, for sharing so straightforward you can have clips online before your hangover has even lifted.
A particularly flexible mounting clip supports tripod screws, or mounts on top of laptop screens, low-profile desk monitors or traditional CRTs, if you’re rocking that old-school setup still. Hook-up is via USB 2.0.
The Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920 is up for pre-order now, priced at $99.99

Verizon trying to fix their data woes

Verizon Wireless will buy airwave rights covering 28 million people from cable-television provider Cox Communications Inc. for $315 million, the companies said, the latest chapter in an unusual tie-up between the cellular giant and cable companies.
The deal allows Cox and Verizon Wireless to sell each others’ services in their stores and other sales channels. The joint marketing arrangement is similar to the one agreed to in the groundbreaking deal disclosed earlier this month between Verizon and Comcast Corp., Time Warner Cable Inc. and Bright House Networks, in which Verizon said it would pay the cable consortium $3.6 billion for wireless spectrum licenses covering 259 million people in the U.S.     LINK
